In an effort to tenuously cling to my past, I present Flower Fusion.
This blog catalogues my deep love of flowers and floristry. As a little girl, I wanted to be a florist and my childhood dreams did come true. I studied in London and worked hard in some amazing shops and flower businesses. Eventually, I opened my very own flower shop.
Being a florist is beyond hard work. In the UK you have easy access to Holland - the Mecca of all things flower related - and a keen and generous customer base. But the hours are long and your hands get dirty; juggling stock that is perishable with maintaining enough variety can be a challenge and of course, not every customer is a happy one! The smell though, ah the smell of a flower shop is like no other and makes my heart ache.
These days, you will find me in Cape Town. Far away from my old shops and far away from flowers. Here, my life is very different to my florist days and that makes me sad sometimes. So Flower Fusion is the elixir of what once was, balancing my beautiful life with the beauty of my past.
